upload-logs failed, ftp url not set

Blower, Melanie

Hello, I am trying to upload tests results with Intel compiler. The upload failed with “# <lambda> failed with message "[Errno -2] Name or service not known".

Adding print to the python script, I can see that the ftp url is None.  It is possible to pass “-ftp=” on the invocation of run.py.  Which url should I use?

python ./run.py  --toolsets=intel-linux --have-source --runner=mibintc-test-1 --tag=master  --skip-script-download --proxy=… --bjam-toolset=intel-linux --pjl-toolset=intel-linux --ftp-proxy=…  upload-logs

Thanks and regards, Melanie

You might want to check with your IT folks.

To clarify, what is the receiving url for the upload?

WARNING..

Under no circumstances post that URL on this list!

Last time someone did that it was painful to change server and code to use a new URL.

If you absolutely need to know the ftp target.. Read this code <https://github.com/boostorg/regression/blob/develop/testing/src/collect_and_upload_logs.py#L243>.

Re: upload-logs failed, ftp url not set

Blower, Melanie

Thank you.  I am newbie [obviously?].  I don’t know if there’s something wrong with the proxy settings or if I invoked the script wrong.  If the testing has completed and the zip file is ready for upload, should “upload logs” be sufficient, without adding the –ftp= argument to the invocation of run.py?

Yes.. You should not include the --ftp option as it will override the default. That option is there for testing and if someone ever wants to set up their own repository of results.

Many years ago, I tried to get those proxy settings working. Unfortunately I was never able to...it probably depends quite a bit on how your outbound proxy works. What I learned is that FTP proxying isn't as straightforward (or common) as http proxying is.

Good luck.

The only one I know of who got it working was Noel. So I know the code that's in there now *should* work. But getting proxies to work is arcane voodoo that is rarely tested fully.

Re: upload-logs failed, ftp url not set

Blower, Melanie

I was able to upload the boost regression results zip file using curl and I can see it on the ftp site using a browser, although the report itself isn’t part of the html page with all the other reports. The file is called mibintc-test-1.zip. Does it look ok to you? Is there another step to take to get the result displayed on the summary.html page?

I wasn’t able to get the python “collect and upload” script to execute, it’s not able to open the intel proxy url with the ftplib.FTP call

However, it looks like I can do the reporting by using the run.py followed by curl to do the upload
